In a beautiful countryside, right in front of a cozy farmhouse with an orange roof, lived a happy pig named Penny. Penny had bright pink skin, a very cute curly tail, and big, curious eyes that loved to look at the world.

Penny lived behind a sturdy wooden fence, surrounded by tall green trees and soft rolling hills. She loved her home, but her favorite thing of all was the small garden of colorful tulips that grew just outside her fence.

One morning, Penny noticed that the red and purple tulips were looking a bit sad. Their heads were drooping because it hadn’t rained for many days. “Oh no,” Penny thought. “My beautiful flower friends are thirsty!”

Penny wanted to help, but she was inside the fence. She looked at the farmhouse and saw the farmer’s watering can sitting near the door. She knew she had to get the farmer’s attention.

Penny began to “Oink! Oink!” as loudly and as cheerfully as she could. She wagged her curly tail and hopped up and down near the fence.

The farmer heard the commotion and came outside. He saw Penny pointing her nose toward the drooping tulips. “Are you trying to tell me something, Penny?” the farmer asked with a smile. He looked at the flowers and realized they needed water.

The farmer quickly grabbed the watering can and gave the tulips a big, refreshing drink. Within a few minutes, the red and purple flowers stood up tall and bright again.

The flowers seemed to nod their heads in the breeze to say “thank you.” Penny felt very proud. She realized that even if she stayed inside her fence, her loud voice and kind heart could make a big difference. Penny the Pig spent the rest of the day smiling, happy to be the best garden helper on the farm.
