​In the vast, sunny lands of Australia, there lived a kind and gentle kangaroo named Kylie. Kylie had a little joey, her baby, who lived in her cozy pouch. His name was Kit, and he was the happiest little joey you could ever meet.
​Kylie’s pouch was Kit’s favorite place in the world. It was a warm, safe spot where he could watch the world go by. From inside the pouch, he could see the tall, green trees, the pink flowers, and the big, blue sky with fluffy white clouds floating above the distant mountains.
​Every morning, Kylie and Kit would go on an adventure. Kylie would hop, hop, hop across the grassy plains, and Kit would bounce along safely inside her pouch. He loved the feeling of the wind on his face when they moved quickly. “Whee!” he would squeal with delight.
​One day, they were exploring a new part of the field. They found a beautiful, big tree with a perfect shade. Kylie decided to stop and rest for a while. Kit, feeling a little brave, poked his head out of the pouch. He saw a tiny, pink flower growing near the tree. He had never seen a flower up close before.
​”Mom, can I touch it?” he whispered.
​Kylie smiled. She gently lowered herself to the ground, and Kit carefully hopped out of the pouch for the very first time. He was a little wobbly on his feet, but he was so excited! He took a tiny jump towards the flower and touched its soft petals with his small paw.
​The flower felt even softer than he imagined. A little butterfly with bright orange wings flew by and landed on the flower. Kit giggled, and the butterfly fluttered away, as if they were playing a secret game.
