In the sparkling blue ocean near a sunny island with tall palm trees, lived a playful dolphin named Echo. Echo loved to swim and jump out of the water, showing off his sleek, blue body. He also loved to play games, and his favourite game was hide-and-seek with the other sea creatures.

Every morning, as the bright yellow sun rose in the sky, Echo would call out to his friends, “Let’s play hide-and-seek!” His cheerful dolphin calls would echo through the water, which is how he got his name.

His friends, a colourful school of fish, a grumpy old sea turtle, and a shy little seahorse, would all gather to play. Echo was very good at finding hiding spots. Sometimes he would hide behind a big coral reef, and sometimes he would swim very quickly and then suddenly stop, blending in with the deep blue water.

One day, while playing near the shore of the island, Echo saw a shadow flying overhead. It was a big, graceful seabird soaring in the sky. Echo had never played hide-and-seek with a bird before, but he was curious.

He jumped high out of the water and called up to the bird, “Hey! Want to play hide-and-seek with us?”

The seabird, whose name was Skye, looked down and chirped with amusement. “Hide-and-seek? How can I hide in the sky?”

Echo thought for a moment. “Maybe you can hide behind the clouds!” he suggested.

So, they started their game. Echo would dive deep into the ocean, trying to stay out of Skye’s sight from above. Skye would fly high and try to spot Echo’s shadow in the water. It was a new and exciting way to play!

Sometimes, Skye would swoop down low, pretending she couldn’t find Echo, just to make him giggle. Echo would then leap out of the water with a splash, surprising Skye.

They played for hours until the sun began to set, painting the sky with beautiful oranges and pinks. Echo and Skye were tired but very happy. They had learned that even though they lived in different worlds – the ocean and the sky – they could still have fun together and be friends.

From that day on, Echo and Skye often played hide-and-seek, inventing new ways to challenge each other. They showed all the other sea creatures and birds that friendship and fun can be found anywhere, even between a dolphin who loves the sea and a seabird who loves the sky.
